In the midst of Jada Pinkett Smith’s extensive press campaign for her memoir, “Worthy”, rapper and television executive 50 Cent couldn’t resist taking a swipe at her revelations. In an Instagram post shared on Sunday, October 15, 50 Cent posted a headline that read, “Jada Pinkett Smith reveals she sold a lot of crack as a teenager,” accompanied by a photo of Pinkett Smith. In the caption, he expressed his exasperation, saying, “Alright enough is an enough FREE WILL SMITH! WTF is going on”.
Pinkett Smith’s recent interviews have been filled with surprising confessions, particularly regarding her marriage to Will Smith. She disclosed that they have been separated since 2016, emphasizing that it’s not a divorce on paper, but they maintain the appearance of marriage.
She explained, “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.” When questioned about why they didn’t publicly announce the separation earlier, she explained that they weren’t ready and were still in the process of figuring out how to navigate their partnership.
The infamous Oscars slap, which occurred at the 2022 Academy Awards, also featured in her interviews. Pinkett Smith expressed her surprise at Will Smith referring to her as his “wife” when they hadn’t used that term for years. In her memoir, she reflected on the moment, stating, “But when I hear Will yell ‘wife’ in the chaos of the moment, an internal shift of Oh s— . . . I am his wife! happens instantly. I’m aware that I’m at the Oscars in a beautiful but very heavy forest-green dress with a high neck, a zipper bodice, and a train a thousand miles long, and I’ve had to stay seated all evening. But no matter how much growth I’ve recently experienced, my old mechanisms are driving, and my mind is racing with, Oh s###, if I have to fight or run, I’m done! I can’t even get up!”.
Among her other revelations, Pinkett Smith shared that Tupac Shakur suffered from alopecia, and she disclosed the rapper once proposed to her while serving time at Rikers Island. She also spoke about an encounter where comedian Chris Rock hit on her amid rumors of her divorce from Will Smith, describing her marriage as a “divine assignment”.
