Angelica Ross Shifts Focus from Hollywood to Politics Amid Allegations of On-Set Discrimination

Published:

In recent weeks, acclaimed actress Angelica Ross has been in the spotlight for her candid revelations about alleged transphobic incidents on the set of “American Horror Story: 1984”. Now, she’s making a bold career move by leaving Hollywood and returning to her home state of Georgia to venture into politics.

Ross’s decision to transition from acting to politics comes in response to the mistreatment she claims to have experienced while working with co-star Emma Roberts and director Ryan Murphy on the Ryan Murphy-led show “American Horror Story: 1984.” She alleged that Roberts deliberately misgendered her on set and recounted a phone call from Murphy in which she claimed to have been berated for tweeting about encountering racism during production. According to reports, both Roberts and Murphy have since apologized for their actions.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ross explained her decision to leave Hollywood and delve into politics. She has been consulting with prominent political figures like former Georgia state representative Renitta Shannon and former Missouri State Representative Bruce Franks Jr. Ross is preparing to undergo candidate and campaign training next month, taking a significant step towards her political aspirations.

Ross’s commitment to her new path is evident as she affirms, “I’m fully walking away from Hollywood. But I’m always going to be who I am.” She emphasizes that creativity and a fulfilling life can exist outside of the entertainment industry.

Despite her career shift, Ross remains actively engaged in various endeavors. Her new single, “Grand Theft Lover ‘Cheat Code,'” featuring rapper Mondaii, is set to release on September 29. Additionally, Ross is the founder of the TransTech Summit, an initiative focused on training and providing resources for transgender tech professionals.

While Ross is leaving Hollywood behind, her passion for meaningful storytelling and advocacy continues. She recently attended GLAAD’s inaugural Black Queer Creative Summit, where she stressed the importance of Black queer and trans media representation. Ross emphasized the need for diverse voices to share the multifaceted stories of Black queer and trans communities, challenging harmful stereotypes in media.

As Angelica Ross embarks on her political journey, her commitment to fostering positive change and amplifying marginalized voices remains unwavering, marking a new chapter in her remarkable career.
