Desiigner Will Not Be Required to Register as a Sex Offender After Plane Incident

Published:

Rapper Desiigner will not be required to register as a sex offender following his incident on a plane to Japan, according to his attorney, Ryan Garry. The “Panda” rapper, who was caught masturbating on the plane, was initially reported to have faced sex offender registration as part of his punishment.

Garry clarified the situation, stating, “Many news outlets have incorrectly stated that he’s required to register as an absolute condition of his probation. They are wrong.” While Desiigner won’t have to register as a sex offender, he will still need to complete other mandated requirements, including 120 hours of community service, a $5,000 fine, and a two-year probation period.

Garry explained that if the State of California or another government entity required Desiigner to register as a sex offender due to his federal misdemeanor conviction, he would have had to comply. However, after legal consultations and research, it was determined that his misdemeanor conviction would not necessitate sex offender registration.

Desiigner has not publicly addressed his conviction, and Garry stated that their legal team is prepared to address any challenges to this decision.
