Donald Trump Retains Attorney Who Represented Gunna in YSL RICO Case for Voter Fraud Defense

Published:

Former President Donald Trump has tapped attorney Steve Sadow, known for his representation of rapper Gunna in the YSL RICO case last year, to join his legal team for his upcoming voter fraud case in Georgia. The move comes as Trump faces a slew of felony RICO charges related to his efforts to contest the 2020 Presidential Election.

According to WSB-TV, Trump is set to surrender to Fulton County Jail on Thursday, August 24, where his mug shot will be publicly released. He is facing 13 charges, including violating Georgia’s RICO Act, which has been linked to his alleged involvement in attempts to overturn the election results.

In a statement to ABC News, Sadow confirmed his role in Trump’s defense and expressed confidence in his client’s innocence. “The president should never have been indicted. He is innocent of all the charges brought against him,” Sadow stated. He further mentioned that he looks forward to the case being dismissed or, if needed, to presenting a strong defense to an impartial jury.

Sadow’s legal expertise extends beyond politics, as he has represented prominent figures in the Hip Hop industry, including Rick Ross, Usher, and T.I. Notably, he successfully negotiated an Alford plea deal for Gunna in the YSL RICO case, leading to Gunna’s release.

Gunna, who was arrested alongside Young Thug as part of the YSL RICO indictment, accepted the plea deal in December 2022. He was given a five-year suspended sentence, with credit for time served during his pretrial detention. Gunna’s legal team emphasized his lack of cooperation with law enforcement throughout the case.

Sadow’s involvement in both Gunna’s legal defense and now Trump’s voter fraud case underscores his experience in handling high-profile legal matters across different contexts. As Trump’s legal battle unfolds, Sadow’s track record suggests he is prepared to provide a robust defense for his clients.
