Ice Spice and Matty Healy Reconcile After Racist Remarks and Apology

Published:

Ice Spice, the rising star, has revealed that she and Matty Healy, the frontman of The 1975, have mended fences following controversial remarks he made during a podcast. In an interview with Variety, Ice Spice mentioned that Matty had apologized to her multiple times.

She expressed her initial confusion upon hearing Matty’s comments during the podcast, where he used derogatory terms, saying, “When I had heard that little podcast or whatever, I was so confused… But then they apologized.” Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, admitted that she didn’t take Matty’s remarks too seriously, and their recent encounter at an event confirmed that they are on good terms.

During the interview, Ice Spice recalled a recent encounter with Matty Healy at a Jean Paul Gaultier party, where he inquired about her well-being. She assured him that they were fine, indicating that Matty had apologized to her multiple times, and they have moved past the incident.

Matty Healy faced public backlash in February for comments he made about Ice Spice’s ethnicity and for mocking the accents of individuals of Chinese and Hawaiian descent during “The Adam Friedland Show” podcast. He later publicly apologized to Ice Spice during a concert in New Zealand in May, expressing that he never intended to harm anyone.
