Tory Lanez Begins Prison Sentence as Final Appeal in Megan Thee Stallion Case Is Denied

Published:

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has commenced his 10-year prison sentence, marking the culmination of the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. Law & Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff, who has been closely following the case since its inception, reported that Lanez officially entered prison on Thursday, September 14.

During his bail motion, Lanez was accompanied by representatives from Unite The People, who endorsed his bail request. However, his attorney, Jose Baez, known for his defense of Casey Anthony, couldn’t appear in court due to prior commitments. Lanez had sought permission to reside in the same house as his son and had plans to rent a property from a provider of exotic homes and cars if his request was approved.

Regrettably for Lanez, his pleas were unsuccessful. Cuniff tweeted, “Tory Lanez is officially headed to prison. The motion will be denied and proceedings concluded. Thank you,” as Judge Herriford made the decision. Lanez acknowledged his supporters, including his father and friends from Unite the People, before being escorted out.

This development comes shortly after reports revealed that Tory Lanez had initially rejected a four-year plea deal offered by prosecutors during the course of the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case.

Last month, VladTV reported that Lanez had been presented with a four-year plea deal by prosecutors, but he declined it, opting to take his chances in front of a California jury. Despite his persistent claims of innocence, he was ultimately found guilty on all counts following a two-week trial last December.

Tory Lanez was subsequently sentenced to a 10-year prison term by Judge David Herriford in August, which was three years less than what the prosecution had sought. His maximum potential sentence was 22 years and eight months, with deportation to Canada still awaiting him upon his eventual release from prison.

During the sentencing, District Attorney Kathy Ta read aloud a powerful written statement from Megan Thee Stallion. In the statement, Megan criticized Tory Lanez for disseminating false narratives about the shooting incident that resulted in her sustaining bullet fragments in both feet. She also condemned his casual approach to her trauma in subsequent music releases, emphasizing that she has not found a day of peace since the incident.
