Tyler Perry Builds New Home for 93-Year-Old Facing Property Dispute

Published:

In a heartwarming act of generosity, movie mogul Tyler Perry is keeping his promise to support a 93-year-old South Carolina woman, Josephine Wright, who has been entangled in a bitter property dispute. Perry, known for his philanthropic endeavors, is constructing a brand-new, 5-bedroom home for Wright to replace her existing one, which has been in her family for generations.

Sources with direct knowledge of the situation informed TMZ about Perry’s commitment to providing Wright with a secure place to call home. The construction is set to begin in the coming weeks, pending the acquisition of the necessary permits.

Perry’s involvement in this endeavor traces back to July when he first learned about Josephine Wright’s legal battle with the Bailey Point Investment Group. This real estate company sought to purchase Wright’s land in Hilton Head, a property deeply rooted in her family history, dating back to the Civil War era. Despite significant pressure, Wright had remained steadfast in her determination to hold onto her property, which holds immense sentimental value.

Josephine Wright recounted how Bailey Point Investment Group gained approval from the town to develop a large portion of land behind her residence, leading to a dispute. After she rejected an offer to sell her home, she claimed that BP resorted to harassment, ultimately culminating in a lawsuit to claim her family’s land.

In an effort to support her legal battle, one of Josephine’s grandkids initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the associated costs. The campaign detailed additional hardships, including structural damage to the house, when a tree fell on it, creating two holes in the roof.

Now, thanks to Tyler Perry’s unwavering generosity and commitment, Josephine Wright is set to receive a new home that will allow her entire family to be together, including her grandkids. Perry’s actions demonstrate not only his commitment to those facing adversity but also his determination to preserve the legacy of families like Wright’s, bound to their homes by a rich history dating back to the Civil War era.
