Quavo, the renowned rapper, recently visited the White House, where he had an important meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris. Accompanied by his mother and sister, Titania Davenport, who is the mother of the late Takeoff, Quavo discussed his concerns about gun violence and advocated for the passage of the Break the Cycle of Violence Act during the meeting at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Quavo emphasized the need for Congress to treat gun violence as a public health risk, similar to how substance abuse and depression are addressed. During the meeting, he shared personal stories related to the issue and urged Vice President Harris to support their mission to its fullest extent.
Vice President Harris publicly thanked the family on her Instagram account for using their platform not only to honor Takeoff but also to raise awareness about gun violence prevention. Quavo’s Rocket Foundation, recently launched, aims to influence gun laws at both the state and federal levels, with a particular focus on underserved areas.
Earlier in the day, Quavo held discussions with Representatives from the Congressional Black Caucus to promote the policy. He concluded his day in D.C. by cohosting a reception with community leader Greg Jackson, bringing together lawmakers and advocates for gun violence prevention to explore better solutions.
Quavo firmly believes that gun violence is preventable and came to D.C. with the goal of building safer communities. While it remains a challenging endeavor, it marks a significant step forward in addressing this pressing issue.
