Nicki Minaj is facing a slander lawsuit after a dedicated fan, Tameer Peak, decided to take legal action against the rap superstar. In response, Minaj’s attorney has issued a strong statement, suggesting that Peak will deeply regret pursuing this case, which he claims is rooted in years of harassment.
Minaj’s lawyer, representing the artist born Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, stated that Peak has been “harassing” Nicki on social media for years without success. The attorney further accused Peak of escalating his behavior by attempting to financially exploit the rapper with “manifestly false allegations and legally frivolous claims.” He added ominously, “He will regret having gone down this disreputable road when he is forced to pay her legal fees as required by California law.”
The lawsuit, filed in a Los Angeles courthouse, alleges that despite being a loyal supporter of Minaj for the past 15 years, Peak claims he has endured personal attacks and humiliation from the rapper, which he alleges have caused irreparable damage to his reputation and career. He argues that his promotion of her latest album, “Pink Friday 2,” has not shielded him from her alleged mistreatment.
In his complaint, Peak cited various incidents, including a 2017 live stream where Minaj accused him and other fans of being paid saboteurs. He also claims that she invited him to a hotel under false pretenses, only to film and ridicule him in front of her 100,000 live viewers.
Additionally, Peak alleges that Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, “battered” him during a Super Bowl event in 2020, claiming that Minaj later DM’d him about the incident. He contends that Minaj has severely tarnished his reputation by suggesting he is mentally unstable and a stalker, referencing her remarks during a Stationhead session: “It’s clear they’re not necessarily, you know, a full basket umm at the picnic.”
Now, Tameer Peak is seeking a staggering $5 million in damages for reputational harm, emotional distress, and financial losses. As this case unfolds, it remains to be seen how the courts will respond to the claims made by both parties.
