In a significant development in the assault case involving A$AP Rocky, prosecutors presented a video in an L.A. courtroom purportedly showing the rapper holding a gun before the alleged shooting of former Mob member A$AP Relli. LAPD detective Frank Flores testified that the video was obtained during the investigation, with still photos from the footage presented to support the claim that A$AP Rocky was armed during a physical altercation with Relli.
A$AP Rocky, known as Rihanna’s baby daddy, appeared in court wearing a dark blue suit, black glasses, and a black facemask, maintaining composure during the explosive testimony against him. The prosecution played a separate clip alleging to capture two gunshots, although no video of the actual shooting has been provided. Relli claims that Rocky shot his hand.
During the proceedings, police body cam footage was shown, revealing at least seven officers arriving at the scene of the alleged shooting and searching for evidence. Notably, they did not find the weapon. Relli testified that he had a prior dispute with Rocky, alleging that the rapper had pointed a gun at his stomach during a heated exchange.
Relli’s account diverges from the alleged shooting, asserting that the bullets were fired after they separated, with Rocky fleeing the scene. Despite Relli’s claim of recovering 9mm shells later that night, no fingerprints were found on the shell casings provided to law enforcement. Rocky’s defense questioned the credibility of Relli’s ability to find casings when the police could not locate any at the scene.
The judge has ruled there is enough evidence to take A$AP Rocky’s case to trial, where he will face two counts of first-degree assault with a firearm. The arraignment is scheduled for January 8. The trial is expected to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding the alleged altercation and shooting.
