Ice Cube, the iconic figure from the West Coast, has been embroiled in a dispute with Warner Bros. regarding the ownership of his beloved Friday film franchise. However, in a recent update shared during an interview on Sirius XM’s Flavor Of The Week, Ice Cube revealed that there is newfound hope for the series after more than two decades of dormancy.
“We finally got some traction with Warner Bros.,” Ice Cube expressed to host Flavor Flav. “They have new leadership. My man Mike DeLuca, who used to be at New Line when I first started, is now running Warner Bros.”
Ice Cube also disclosed that his discussions with the studio have been centered around reviving the franchise, emphasizing the need for the movie to be done justice after the unfortunate passing of key cast members.
Despite Warner Bros. owning the intellectual property of the franchise, Ice Cube remains determined to see it continue, without resorting to legal battles. He shared that he presented two scripts to the studio, both of which were turned down for various reasons.
Ice Cube’s unwavering commitment to bringing back the Friday franchise showcases his dedication to preserving the culture it represents, even in the face of challenges and setbacks. With Warner Bros. potentially coming around to the idea, fans of the beloved series may have something to look forward to in the near future.
