James DuBose, former General Manager of Fox Soul, is set to launch his groundbreaking AVOD platform, In The Black Network, a streaming service that celebrates Black voices and original storytelling. Scheduled for release on October 2, this highly anticipated platform will offer a wide range of entertainment, including sports, music, scripted dramas, talk shows, children/ family programming, and feature films.
In The Black Network aims to provide a platform that showcases Black culture and uplifts Black storytellers, symbolizing a sense of pride within the community. DuBose, a seasoned television producer, filmmaker, and industry veteran, has drawn inspiration from his extensive career to create this black-owned streaming service that connects viewers with authentic narratives that resonate with their cultural identity.
The platform will feature an extensive collection of entertainment content sourced from the vault of Fox Television Stations, many of which were developed by DuBose during his tenure at Fox Soul. Viewers will have access to this rich library of content through a dedicated app available on iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, YouTube, and Samsung media players. Additional distribution partners are expected to join in the future, expanding the platform’s reach.
Expressing his deep connection to Black culture, DuBose shared, “I love everything about our culture: our faith, our resilience, our rhythm, our minds, our love. These pillars are the focus of our curated content, which honors and elevates Black culture and cultivates pride within our community. Throughout my career, I’ve always aimed to uplift Black voices, so bringing this new network to fruition is extremely personal and important to me. We want viewers to feel connected to authentic stories that speak to our culture and gain a shared sense of self from enjoying our entertainingly inspiring content.”
DuBose has formed strategic partnerships with several content companies to ensure a diverse and engaging lineup. Among these partners are pocket. Watch, a digital-first kids and family studio, Black Waterhorse, a respected distributor of Black indie films, and Maverick Entertainment, a prominent distributor and producer of niche, independent, and Black Cinema content. In addition, In The Black Network will include licensed library shows from Fox Soul, further enriching its programming offering. With its launch, In The Black Network will introduce viewers to a variety of compelling programs. Notable highlights include “Ryan’s World Specials,” featuring the immensely popular Ryan from Ryan’s World, whose content has garnered over 77 billion views. Audiences can also enjoy “Onyx Family Ultimate Mishmash,” a YouTube sensation known for their scary-fun series, as well as “Onyx Monster Mysteries,” an animated comedy-adventure that emphasizes family unity and love.
In addition to these exciting offerings, In The Black Network will feature a host of captivating shows from its content partners. For example, “Brutally Honest with Jasmine Brand” will provide award-winning journalist Jasmine Brand with a platform to conduct candid interviews with Hollywood’s biggest names, delving into their honest truths about life, career, and personal journeys. Another standout series, “Worth a Conversation with Jeezy,” will provide audiences with an intimate perspective on the lives and minds of iconic individuals who have advanced Black culture.
