Rapper Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, has officially filed for divorce from his wife, TV host Jeannie Mai, according to recently obtained court documents. The documents, obtained by HipHopDX, reveal that Jeezy filed a petition for divorce in the Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia on Thursday, September 14. In the filing, he cited the marriage as “irretrievably broken” and mentioned their child, who was born in 2021.
One noteworthy detail from the court filing is that Jeezy is seeking the enforcement of their prenuptial agreement, which was signed before their marriage. The documents state, “The parties entered into a Prenuptial Agreement dated March 26, 2021, that was duly signed and executed by both Petitioner and Respondent on March 26, 2021 (hereinafter the ‘Prenuptial Agreement’) and which resolves all financial issues incident to this divorce. The Prenuptial Agreement should be enforced, and the terms set forth therein made the final Order of this Court.”
This divorce is classified as a contested divorce, indicating that Jeannie Mai is contesting the proceedings. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 19 at 11:00 a.m local time. The news of their divorce comes as a surprise to many, as it follows closely on the heels of Jeannie Mai celebrating Jeezy’s achievement of becoming a best-selling author. Just a week before the divorce filing, she shared a heartwarming video on Instagram in which their daughter Monaco joined in to show love for her father’s latest accomplishment related to his memoir, “Adversity For Sale: Ya Gotta Believe.”
In her Instagram post, Jeannie Mai expressed her admiration for her husband’s literary achievement, emphasizing how his story had always inspired her and how seeing it in print had deepened her appreciation for his strength and wisdom. She praised Jeezy for inviting readers into the most intimate corners of his life and acknowledged his ability to inspire through storytelling.
The couple’s journey, from their wedding in 2021 to this unexpected divorce filing, has captured public attention, leaving fans and followers eager to see how this chapter unfolds.
