Just over a month after their public disagreement over Palmer’s attire, sources close to Jackson reveal that the Illinois-born 29-year-old is now focusing on his acting career and co-parenting their five-month-old son, Leodis Andrellton Jackson.
The separation seems to be amicable, with insiders highlighting that being physically apart doesn’t diminish their commitment to being good parents. Jackson has taken steps to distance himself from the past, having removed all traces of Palmer from his Instagram account and choosing to unfollow her.
Meanwhile, Jackson has been channeling his energies into his fitness journey, as evidenced by the workout videos he shared on his Instastory. Working out alongside Brooklyn fitness trainer Steve BeeKo, Jackson expressed his dedication to refining his physique and establishing muscle memory.
On the other side, Keke Palmer, set to celebrate her 30th birthday on August 26, has chosen a creative outlet to express her feelings. Palmer took a direct jab at the controversy by starring in Usher’s new music video for the track “Boyfriend,” released on Wednesday. In the video, directed by Ricky Alvarez, Palmer is depicted dreaming of dancing with Usher on a casino floor, having missed his My Way Las Vegas residency concert due to oversleeping.
The music video features Usher singing, “Somebody said that your boyfriend’s looking for me / oh that’s cool, that’s cool / Well he should know I’m pretty easy to find / Just look for me wherever he sees you.” Palmer cleverly adds her own twist to the narrative, winking at the camera and remarking, “I am a mother, after all,” a nod to the recent controversy.
The rift between Palmer and Jackson arose when he criticized her attire during Usher’s July 4 concert, labeling it inappropriate for a “mom.” Palmer swiftly responded, encouraging new moms to embrace their own choices and focus on the genuine love between them and their children.
The underlying tensions between the former couple had already come to light in 2021 when it was reported that Jackson’s ex-girlfriend, Taylor Marie Sandova, alleged that he had pressured her to have an abortion shortly before entering a relationship with Keke Palmer.
