Renowned newsman Don Lemon is making headlines as he takes legal action against tech mogul Elon Musk following the abrupt cancellation of his X show after just one episode. Lemon alleges that Musk failed to honor their agreement and withheld proper payment for the content produced.
In the lawsuit filed by Lemon against Musk, it is claimed that Elon verbally committed to paying Don $1.5 million annually to create videos for X, with the intention of attracting advertisers to the platform. Lemon asserts that he was also promised a portion of the advertising revenue and additional financial incentives based on the growth of his presence on X, formerly known as Twitter. However, Lemon contends that Musk reneged on these commitments, leading to a breach of their agreement and potential legal violations.
Although there was no written contract in place, Lemon asserts that Musk assured him of these terms over the phone, even expressing a willingness to provide financial support regardless of his personal views on the content produced. Lemon further alleges that he was coerced into announcing his collaboration with X at the prestigious CES tech conference in Las Vegas, under the threat of contract termination if he failed to attend alongside X CEO Linda Yaccarino.
Don Lemon’s attorney, Carney Shegerian, denounced X’s executives for exploiting Lemon to bolster their advertising efforts, only to terminate the partnership and tarnish Lemon’s reputation. The lawsuit filed by Lemon includes allegations of fraud, negligent misrepresentation, misappropriation of name and likeness, breach of contract, and other legal claims, with Lemon seeking damages for the harm caused.
