Rapper Rich the Kid Arrested in Miami Beach During Art Basel Bomb Threat Incident

Published:

Miami Beach, FL – In the early hours of Monday morning, rapper Rich the Kid, born Dimitri Roger, found himself in handcuffs after defying law enforcement orders during a bomb threat investigation at the SLS Hotel in South Beach, where he was staying for Art Basel.

Law enforcement had established a police cordon in response to an unrelated bomb threat when Rich the Kid attempted to enter his hotel room. Despite being warned by police that he couldn’t proceed until the area was cleared, the 31-year-old rapper pressed on and was informed that he would face arrest if he resisted their orders.

According to the arrest report, Roger approached the secured perimeter at the intersection of 17th Street and James Avenue, crossing under police tape at the southeast corner of the hotel. Despite warnings, he boldly declared, ‘I’ll bond out in 20 minutes.’ Undeterred, he jumped a fence after instructing security staff to stop him.

As officers conducting a K9 sweep inside the hotel instructed him to leave, Roger persisted, lingering on the hotel driveway until he was eventually apprehended. Following the incident, he was taken to the Miami Beach Police Headquarters Holding Facility for processing.

The arrest took place amidst the backdrop of Art Basel, an international art fair that drew numerous celebrities and collectors to Miami. Lavish parties celebrating the event have been a nightly occurrence throughout the week.

Rich the Kid now faces charges of resisting an officer without violence and trespassing on a property. The incident adds a controversial twist to the otherwise glamorous atmosphere surrounding Art Basel in Miami Beach.
