Renowned musician and Beyoncé’s collaborator, The Dream, has addressed allegations of sexual assault brought against him by a female singer, asserting that the encounters were consensual. In response to the lawsuit filed by Chanaaz Mangroe, The Dream, whose real name is Terius Gesteelde-Diamant, has vehemently denied the accusations and criticized the woman for spreading what he deems to be a “false and defamatory narrative.”
In court documents obtained by Media Take Out, The Dream’s legal team requested the dismissal of Mangroe’s lawsuit, claiming that she is exploiting the judicial system to tarnish his reputation and extract financial gain. The musician’s defense emphasizes his standing as a respected Black artist in the industry and suggests that the allegations are an attempt to undermine his legacy and achievements.
The Dream’s attorney refuted the claims of non-consensual sexual activity, highlighting his client’s track record of advocating for women’s rights and supporting survivors of abuse. The statement asserts that the interactions between The Dream and Mangroe were consensual and mutually agreed upon, with no instances of coercion or exploitation.
Moreover, the legal response portrays Mangroe as a willing participant in a brief courtship with The Dream, alleging that she continued to pursue him even after their interactions had ended. The defense asserts that there was no exchange of sex for money or any form of abuse, painting a picture of a consensual relationship between two adults.
As the legal battle unfolds, The Dream stands firm in his denial of the allegations, maintaining that the encounters in question were consensual and refuting any claims of misconduct or abuse.
