Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, currently facing felony assault charges, now confronts a defamation lawsuit from his former associate, A$AP Relli…
In a new legal development, A$AP Relli is taking legal action against A$AP Rocky and his prominent attorney, Joe Tacopina, over alleged defamation stemming from a 2021 shooting incident. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Relli contends that Tacopina initiated a media campaign following his alleged shooting by A$AP Rocky, unfairly tarnishing Relli’s reputation in the process.
Relli claims that Tacopina portrayed him as dishonest, money-hungry, and an extortionist in various media outlets, including TMZ. In one instance, Tacopina stated, “Rocky didn’t commit a crime. It was an extortion attempt by a former associate, who threatened to make false, criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him.”
Relli asserts that due to the alleged attack, he received multiple death threats and has become a subject of public ridicule. In response, he is seeking unspecified damages.
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky’s criminal case is still pending, and he has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Joe Tacopina has commented on the lawsuit, suggesting it is a publicity stunt that will backfire. He welcomes the suit and intends to use it for depositions under oath, aiming to expose what he believes is Relli’s fraudulent behavior.
