Anthony Edwards Addresses Abortion Claims: Attributes Comments to the “Heat of a Moment”

Published:

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has broken his silence following allegations made by a woman who claimed that he urged her to have an abortion. The 22-year-old, reacting to the accusations made on social media by Paige Jordae, clarified that his comments were made “in the heat of a moment” and do not align with his beliefs.

The controversy unfolded when Jordae shared a series of posts over the weekend, including screenshots of a text conversation where she claimed Edwards expressed a desire for her to undergo an abortion. Alongside the text exchange, she posted a screenshot of a $100,000 wire transfer, allegedly from Edwards, following the procedure.

In response to the allegations, Edwards released a statement on Monday acknowledging the comments, stating, “I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man.”

The All-Star guard further expressed support for women’s autonomy, stating, “All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.” He emphasized his commitment to handling personal matters privately and announced that he would not provide further comments on the issue at this time.

As Edwards addresses these claims, the NBA player is in the midst of his fourth season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, maintaining an impressive average of 24.2 points per game.
