Bronny James Hospitalized After Health Scare During USC Workout

Published:

Basketball phenom Bronny James, son of NBA superstar LeBron James, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during a basketball workout at USC, TMZ Sports reports.

A spokesperson for the James family issued a statement, revealing, “Yesterday while practicing, Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff promptly treated Bronny and transported him to the hospital. We are relieved to share that he is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. The James family requests respect and privacy during this time, and we will provide further updates to the media as needed.”

The spokesperson also extended gratitude to the USC medical and athletic staff for their exceptional care and dedication to their athletes’ safety.

According to sources, a 911 call was made from USC’s Galen Center at 9:26 AM on Monday, and the 18-year-old athlete, unconscious at the time, was immediately taken to the hospital by ambulance. The seriousness of the situation was indicated by the Code 3 response, with lights and sirens activated during the ambulance ride.

Bronny James is considered a rising star in basketball and recently committed to playing for USC, with high expectations of eventually making it to the NBA. His talents have been recognized, and he was named a McDonald’s All-American during his high school senior season.

LeBron James has previously expressed his desire to one day play alongside his son in the NBA, showing the strong bond they share both on and off the court.

In this challenging time, Bronny can lean on his close friend Shareef O’Neal, son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who faced his own heart issue in 2018 as a teenage basketball star. Bronny and Shareef have been spotted together, offering support and understanding to each other.

While Bronny appeared fine at the ESPY Awards a few weeks ago with his family, his health scare is a reminder of the importance of medical vigilance, even for young athletes. The basketball community and fans worldwide are sending their well-wishes and support to the James family during this difficult period.
