The Chicago Bears have reportedly fired their running backs coach, David Walker, due to issues related to his workplace behavior. It is believed that this decision comes after Walker had previously received a warning about his conduct from the Bears’ HR department. A second incident involving his behavior led to his dismissal, according to reports from ESPN.
David Walker had been a part of the Chicago Bears coaching staff since 2022 when he was hired by head coach Matt Eberflus. Prior to joining the Bears, he served as the Detroit Lions’ running backs coach from 2016 to 2018.
This marks the second departure of an assistant coach from the Chicago Bears this season. Former defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned in September, citing the need to prioritize his health and family. However, there were reports suggesting that his resignation was influenced by inappropriate activity. While these activities were not considered criminal, the Bears’ HR department played a role in the process leading to his abrupt resignation.
It’s worth noting that despite both departures involving the Bears’ HR, they are believed to be unrelated incidents. The Chicago Bears have yet to officially announce David Walker’s dismissal from the team.
