Chris Brown Announces Move Away from California

Published:

In a recent Instagram post, Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown, aged 35, shared his plans to relocate from California. Although he expressed his affection for the state, labeling it his “second home,” Brown believes it’s time for a change, symbolized by a heart emoji.

The decision to leave California is part of a growing trend among celebrities who have cited reasons like high tax rates, increased crime, and differing political philosophies as the factors influencing their moves. Notable figures such as Joe Rogan, Rod Stewart, Mark Wahlberg, Hilary Swank, James Van Der Beek, Dean Cain, and Josh Brolin have also left the state in recent years.

While Brown hasn’t publicly specified the exact reasons for his departure, his past neighborhood in Tarzana, California, faced various issues related to noise complaints and other incidents. Notably, in 2019, he held a two-day yard sale that resulted in fan crowds, long lines, and parking congestion in the area.

California holds significance in Brown’s life due to the infamous 2009 incident in which he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna during a pre-Grammys party in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to felony assault in connection with the incident in June 2009.

In 2023, Brown expressed frustration on social media, claiming that he had been unfairly treated in the 14 years since the incident. He argued that his name was continuously associated with the assault, even as he felt other celebrities accused of domestic abuse were treated more leniently. In his posts, Brown attempted to divert attention by naming other celebrities with similar accusations.

The controversy extended to his collaboration with Chloe Bailey on the single “How Does It Feel,” with fans expressing outrage and urging her not to release the track due to Brown’s history of violence against women.
