Drake Faces Universal Music’s Wrath Over Unreleased Music Leak

Published:

Drake is in hot water with Universal Music Group for sharing snippets of his latest stash of unreleased music on social media. The violation claim, issued by Instagram, pointed fingers at UMG as the plaintiff without specifying which tracks caused the breach.

Recently, Drake surprised fans with a massive drop of old songs, videos, and even design ideas for his private jet. The content, unleashed on 100gigs.org and a new Instagram account @plottttwistttttt, includes three unreleased tracks featuring artists like Young Thug, 21 Savage, and Latto.

Despite the excitement surrounding the leak, Universal Music Group is now asserting that Drake lacks the rights to release this music due to his contractual obligations. The leak also included behind-the-scenes footage, a concept pack for his plane, and a glimpse into his collaboration process with JAY-Z for the song “Talk Up.”

In a strategic move, Drake anticipated JAY-Z’s limited recording time during the On the Run II Tour with Beyoncé, ensuring he was available for feedback within a tight window. The unfolding drama between Drake and Universal Music Group adds a new twist to the ongoing saga of music leaks and copyright disputes.
