Erica Mena Axed from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta After Racist Slur Towards Co-Star Spice

Erica Mena, aged 35, has been officially removed from the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta due to racist comments she made against her co-star, Spice, aged 41. The VH1 reality series announced the decision on social media, emphasizing their commitment to addressing challenging conversations within the community.

The official statement read, “The Love & Hip Hop franchise has never shied away from hard conversations in our community.” It went on to state that Erica Mena’s remarks would be featured in the final three episodes of the current season but confirmed her immediate departure from the next season.

The incident occurred during a heated argument between the two women at a restaurant. It escalated when Spice claimed that Erica’s son did not like her, resulting in a physical altercation. Shockingly, Erica flipped a table and used a racial slur against Spice, shouting that she “should have died” during a recent near-death experience.

This incident sparked a backlash from viewers, with many calling for Erica’s removal from the show. Some viewers also pointed out that it was not only an instance of racism but also colorism, as Erica is a lighter-skinned Afro-Latina, while Spice is a darker-skinned Black Jamaican woman.

The conflict between the two appears to be connected to Erica’s divorce from Safaree Samuels. The argument started when Erica expressed her displeasure about Spice posing for a photo with Safaree and his rumored new girlfriend, Amara La Negra. The situation escalated as Spice confronted Safaree about his child support issues with Erica, leading to further tensions.

Erica also believed Safaree showed more sympathy towards Spice regarding her sepsis near-death experience in 2022 than he did during their divorce.
