The world is eagerly anticipating a glimpse into the life of the iconic filmmaker Tyler Perry in an upcoming documentary. Gelila Bekele, Perry’s former long-time girlfriend and the mother of his child, is a significant part of this highly anticipated project.

In a recent Instagram post, Gelila Bekele, who co-directed the documentary, shared her feelings about the film’s impending release and the years of dedication that have gone into its production.

Accompanied by a series of photos featuring her, Tyler Perry, Oprah Winfrey, ‘Selma’ actor David Oyelowo, and her co-director Armani Ortiz, among others, at the film’s premiere, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Standing next to Mavericks. I am beyond grateful for this moment, To be standing here as a Director, presenting a film we worked on for nearly ten years. So much love and gratitude for everyone who has been a part of this journey.”

Gelila Bekele also extended her thanks to Tyler Perry, writing, “@tylerperry tremendous gratitude for allowing us the privilege of telling your story.”

“Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story” is set to make its debut on Prime Video on November 17. This eagerly anticipated documentary delves into the early stages of Perry’s remarkable over-two-decade career in the entertainment industry, shedding light on his challenging upbringing in the tough city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Born as Emmitt Perry Jr., the illustrious media mogul is best known for his legendary plays that introduced the character “Madea,” a loud, gun-toting elderly woman from the South who plays the colorful matriarch in a lively family.

“Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story” also pays tribute to Perry’s late mother, Willie Maxine Perry, who passed away in 2009.

While Gelila Bekele and Tyler Perry are reportedly no longer in a romantic relationship, they continue to share the joys of parenthood, raising their young son, Aman.
