Vonshae Taylor-Morales, who is currently estranged from rapper Gunplay (real name Richard Morales Jr.), has spoken out about her daughter’s health issues and the challenges she faced in her relationship with the artist.
Earlier this year, Vonshae and Gunplay shared that shortly after their daughter’s birth, doctors diagnosed her with a rare heart defect known as “Supracardiac Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venus Return.” A GoFundMe campaign was set up to help with the child’s medical expenses, as there was no clear explanation for the defect’s occurrence.
However, Vonshae now has her own theory regarding the cause of their child’s serious medical issue, which required surgery. During a recent livestream, she suggested that Gunplay’s history of substance abuse may have played a role in their daughter’s heart defect.
Vonshae explained, “The reason that my daughter had a heart defect is because of his drug abuse history. Like, he was the cause of her defect, ya’ll could google this. Anybody who abuses cocaine, ketamine, which he did too. He actually OD’d on ketamine twice…it causes cognitive disorders and dysfunctions.”
She went on to elaborate, stating that Gunplay took the news of their daughter’s condition very hard.
Vonshae also indicated that when she initially started dating the “Power Circle” artist, she was unaware of his ongoing struggle with substance abuse. She disclosed that she had given him an ultimatum, warning him that if he resumed drug use, she would leave. However, she expressed her disappointment, saying, “I thought giving him the ultimatum was going to keep him doing well. Clearly, that sh*t went out the window…And when I did realize he started using, that’s when a lot of our fights were starting.”
According to Vonshae, Gunplay would attribute his “super red” nose and frequent sniffing to allergies whenever she questioned him about it. She believed his explanation, attributing it to the challenging allergy season in the area.
In August, Vonshae filed for divorce from Gunplay after he was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at her while she was holding their young daughter. He faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and child abuse in relation to the incident.
