HUNTER BIDEN AND CHILD SUPPORT DISPUTE REACH PRIVATE SETTLEMENT; DAUGHTER DENIED USE OF FAMILY NAME

Hunter Biden Reaches Private Settlement in Child Support Dispute, Daughter Denied Use of Family Name

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has reached a confidential settlement with his former flame, Lunden Roberts, in their long-standing paternity battle over their four-year-old daughter. The settlement, submitted to Independence County Circuit Court, awaits approval from Circuit Judge Holly Meyer. While the full financial details remain undisclosed due to heavy redactions, reports suggest that the monthly child support payments will be reduced from $20,000 to $5,000.

A recent New York Post report had indicated that Roberts, 32, agreed to the payment reduction after Hunter claimed financial hardship. However, Roberts’ attorney, Clinton Lancaster, countered the report, emphasizing that no agreement had been reached and refraining from confirming any specific figures.

The resolution of this case will spare Hunter, 53, from the scrutiny of a public paternity trial, where his complicated financial situation was expected to be closely examined. The settlement comes shortly after reports surfaced that Hunter Biden plans to plead guilty to federal tax offenses, part of an arrangement to avoid full prosecution for a separate gun charge.

Earlier this month, Roberts surprised her former partner by appearing in person to witness his deposition, marking the first time she attended the proceedings of their paternity dispute. However, the matter was swiftly resolved thereafter.

It is understood that Roberts has withdrawn her request to change their daughter’s surname to Biden, a petition that had been rejected by Hunter’s legal team. The former couple initially settled  the case in 2019, but Hunter later sought a court order to reduce the monthly child support payments for their four-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts.

Despite ongoing congressional and federal investigations into his financial affairs, Hunter reopened the case last September, claiming a significant change in his income. Roberts remained steadfast and countered by petitioning the court to officially change their daughter’s name to “Navy Joan Biden” to benefit from the association with the Biden family.

The discovery process in the case included a broad range of inquiries, from Hunter’s business dealings in Ukraine and China to the identities of art buyers who have paid substantial amounts for his paintings.

Hunter has opposed the name change, expressing his desire for his daughter to lead a “peaceful existence” free from the political scrutiny associated with his family’s legacy.
