Canadian superstar Drake extended a warm invitation to the Kentucky men’s basketball team, granting them exclusive access to his luxurious Toronto estate for practice and relaxation. The Kentucky Wildcats, accompanied by Coach John Calipari, were treated to a day of training and leisure at Drake’s opulent $100 million mansion on Friday.
Although Drake himself was absent due to his ongoing It’s All A Blur Tour alongside 21 Savage, the Wildcats had the privilege of utilizing the mansion’s lavish amenities, including a full-court basketball gym. Coach Calipari, sporting an OVO polo, captured a video with the team after practice, showcasing their post-practice swim in Drake’s pool. Amused by the lavish surroundings, Coach Cal playfully compared the estate to a resort, expressing his desire for Drake to be present.
During the visit, forward Tre Mitchell shared that his all-time favorite Drake song is “Champagne Poetry” from the artist’s Certified Lover Boy album, adding a personal touch to the experience.
The Kentucky Wildcats were in Toronto for the Global Jam tournament, where they emerged victorious and secured the gold medal. As they enter the 2023-2024 season with high expectations, this memorable visit to Drake’s estate is expected to bolster the team’s reputation and appeal to prospective recruits.
Notably, this is not the first time Drake has crossed paths with the Wildcats. In 2014, he embraced the role of an honorary Kentucky Wildcat, participating in lay-up lines and even attempting a jump shot, which resulted in an infamous airball moment.
As Drake’s tour moves on to New York City for a series of shows at the Barclays Center, the Kentucky Wildcats will carry the memories of their exclusive time at Drake’s Toronto mansion, forging a unique bond between the superstar artist and the esteemed basketball program.
