Lauryn Hill, the iconic singer from New Jersey, is set to embark on an exhilarating journey with The Fugees once more, and this time she’s bringing her son, YG Marley, along for the ride. The announcement of ‘The Celebration Continues Tour’ was made by the legendary artist in an engaging Instagram post on Monday, extending the celebration of the 25th anniversary of her groundbreaking album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Commencing on August 9 in Tampa, Florida, the 22-date tour will traverse the United States before heading to Europe in October, where it will culminate in Amsterdam. The pre-sale kicks off on Wednesday, June 26, at 10 am, followed by the general admission going live on Friday, June 28, at the same time.
Attendees at this year’s Coachella festival were treated to a sneak peek of what to expect on Hill’s upcoming tour. She surprised the crowd during the first weekend by joining YG Marley’s set and even brought out Wyclef Jean. Together, they performed a medley of her solo hits and classic Fugees tracks, including “Ex-Factor,” “Lost Ones,” “Killing Me Softly,” “Ready or Not,” and “Fu-Gee-La,” with YG impressively filling in for Pras on “Ready or Not.” The stage also saw guest appearances from Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star.
In a recent development, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was inducted into the 2024 Grammy Hall Of Fame, a testament to its enduring impact on music and culture. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and secured five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Best R&B Song, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and Best R&B Album.
