NeNe Leakes, known for her role on “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is facing legal action as her former landlord takes her to court over unpaid rent for her shop, Swagg Boutique.
Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that NeNe is being sued by the landlord of Sugarloaf Mills, the shopping center where her women’s clothing store was once located. The legal filing alleges that NeNe originally signed a lease agreement for Swagg Boutique in 2017 and extended it for another year in 2021.
However, the landlord claims that NeNe vacated the premises in January 2022 when the lease term concluded, yet failed to settle the remaining balance of $22,900 owed under the lease.
In an attempt to resolve the matter, the landlord reportedly sent NeNe a letter last month, urging her to settle the debt to avoid potential legal repercussions. Unfortunately, the landlord asserts that NeNe did not respond or make the required payment.
As a result, NeNe Leakes now finds herself entangled in a legal battle, with the landlord seeking damages to cover the unpaid rent as well as attorney’s fees.
Swagg Boutique, like many businesses, faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually closed its doors in 2020. Following a period of closure, reports indicated that NeNe began holding “going out of business” sales at multiple Swagg Boutique locations upon reopening.
TMZ reached out to NeNe’s representative for comment, but there has been no response thus far. This legal setback marks a new chapter of uncertainty for the reality star and business owner.
