Michael Jordan’s Iconic 1991 BMW Auctioned for $108,000, Snapped Up by Wealthy NBA Memorabilia Collector

Michael Jordan’s 1991 BMW 850i 6-Speed, a relic from his NBA heyday, recently fetched a hefty sum of over $108,000 at auction, attesting to the enduring value of His Airness’ legacy. Acquired by Jordan in 1995, the dark blue BMW was part of the Bulls legend’s car collection for nearly three decades.

The auction, conducted by Bring a Trailer, featured the iconic vehicle without Jordan’s physical presence. However, the sale included significant documentation, including Jordan’s signature, a clean car report, and an Illinois title in the basketball legend’s name.

Despite its age, the BMW, with only 30,000 miles driven, appears to be in pristine condition, highlighting its meticulous care throughout the years. The 1991 BMW 850i boasts a distinctive ‘M AIR J’ license plate and features a spoiler over the trunk.

Jordan, though absent from the BMW auction, was spotted at the CFP National Championship game between Michigan and Washington at NRG Stadium in Houston. Accompanied by notable figures like Derek Jeter, rapper Travis Scott, and sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, Jordan enjoyed the game from a luxury box.

The NBA legend acquired the BMW in 1995, marking his return to the Chicago Bulls after a brief baseball career and initial retirement. The car accompanied Jordan during the Bulls’ second three-peat, capping off his illustrious career in Chicago. Notably, the BMW was manufactured in the same year Jordan secured his first NBA title with the Bulls, triumphing over the Detroit Pistons in a postseason series.

Over the years, Jordan has maintained ties with the automotive world, featuring in brand deals with Chevrolet and establishing an automotive company with Nissan dealerships.
