R&B sensation Monica has addressed lingering questions about her romantic involvement with incarcerated rapper C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller. The “Angel of Mine” singer took to social media to set the record straight, putting an end to speculation surrounding her relationship status with the “No Limit” rapper.
Monica attended rapper Nelly’s Black and White Ball in St. Louis over the weekend, accompanied by a man identified as Anthony. In response to a fan’s inquiry about her new companion and the absence of C-Murder, Monica responded in the comments section of a video featuring her and Anthony.
In her reply, she expressed frustration, stating, “OMGGGGG I haven’t said his name in 2 yrs, can y’all follow my lead like y’all did when I brought him up. One band one sound.”
Further clarifying her situation, the 43-year-old singer left another comment on an Instagram fan page dedicated to her. She shared more details about her breakup with C-Murder, stating, “Well, here it is in short! I got my heartbroken (again) and that’s ok! I learned yet another valuable lesson! I went through it, got over it, now I can laugh about it! Life continues! I feel great that through it he has representation to one day be free! Let’s move forward!”
Monica and C-Murder, 52, had dated prior to his arrest in 2002 for a murder charge. He was convicted of beating and shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana. Serving a life sentence since August 14, 2009, at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, C-Murder has consistently maintained his innocence.
Speculation surrounding their relationship reignited in April 2022 when Monica posted a now-deleted photo on Instagram featuring C-Murder during a prison visit. Despite the ambiguity of the caption, the location mentioned was New Orleans, Louisiana, where C-Murder is serving his sentence.
Monica’s recent candid revelations bring closure to the uncertainties surrounding her relationship with C-Murder and emphasize her commitment to moving forward after experiencing heartbreak.
