Former NFL player and sports commentator Shannon Sharpe recently found himself in the middle of a social media storm following a makeup mishap during an episode of ESPN’s First Take. His heavy-handed use of makeup became instant meme material, and even Snoop Dogg couldn’t resist joining the fun.
On Instagram, Snoop posted an edited, sepia-toned image of Sharpe with the caption “Rev Sharpe84” and humorously referred to his makeup as suitable for a congregation, complete with laughing and prayer emojis. In response, Sharpe lightheartedly commented, “Snoop you wrong 4 this” alongside laughing emojis.
Sharpe acknowledged the chatter about his makeup mishap on Twitter, explaining that a new makeup artist was responsible for the unconventional look. He reassured fans that while his appearance might be a topic of discussion, his sports commentary was his primary focus, saying, “My appearance is important, not as important as my takes. Hopefully, the takes were great as usual.” He added hashtags like #LipSparringChamp, #BestDressed, and #ESPN.
This light-hearted exchange between Snoop Dogg and Shannon Sharpe is not the first time they’ve interacted. In May, Snoop appeared on Sharpe and Skip Bayless’ talk show, Undisputed, and gifted the hosts Death Row chains. Snoop made a playful remark about their newfound “drip” and humorously pointed out that Skip Bayless was missing this key accessory on the show. Sharpe eagerly accepted the chain, vowing to wear it the next day and make quite an entrance on the show.
While makeup mishaps can happen to anyone, Shannon Sharpe’s ability to take the situation in stride, along with a dash of Snoop Dogg’s humor, helped turn what could have been an embarrassing moment into a lighthearted exchange, showing that even the most unexpected situations can lead to some good-natured laughs.
