Teen at the Center of Josh Giddey’s Allegations Refuses to Cooperate in Investigation

Published:

The investigation into the alleged inappropriate relationship involving Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey and a minor has encountered obstacles, as the teenager and her family reportedly refuse to cooperate with authorities.

According to TMZ, police are eager to speak with the young girl following accusations against the 21-year-old Australian basketball player that surfaced on social media over the weekend. However, it has been claimed that both the girl and those close to her are not providing information to officials, complicating efforts to gather more details.

Giddey, who has become one of Oklahoma’s key players since being selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, is accused of having an intimate relationship with an underage girl from California. The NBA launched an investigation last week into the claims, fueled by photos and videos allegedly showing Giddey with the girl.

Despite the scandal, Giddey has continued to play for the Thunder, remaining tight-lipped when questioned about the accusations. During a recent press conference, he responded, “Yeah, I mean, I understand the question obviously, but, err, there’s no further comment right now.”

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault has also chosen not to address the allegations directly, stating, “I’m not gonna comment on anything as it relates to Josh off the court.” The coach emphasized that, from a basketball standpoint, there is no change in Giddey’s status, and the team has no further comments on the matter.

Despite being booed by the crowd during a recent game in Minneapolis, the Thunder coach reaffirmed that the decision to continue playing Giddey is based on the information available, and the league is now responsible for handling the situation.
