Texas Police Investigate Michael Irvin Over Unspecified ‘Misconduct’ Allegations

Pro Football Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin is under investigation by Texas police for alleged misconduct. While details remain undisclosed due to the early stage of the investigation, Allen PD Public Information Officer Jonathan Maness confirmed the existence of an allegation.

Irvin’s attorney, Levi McCathern, asserted that the former Cowboys receiver “vehemently denies” any wrongdoing and stated that Irvin “didn’t do anything wrong or inappropriate.” McCathern expressed confidence that the accusations would prove to be insignificant in the course of the investigation.

Irvin, currently employed by Fox Sports and NFL Network, has faced legal issues both before and after his retirement from the NFL in 1999. Recently reinstated by NFL Network for the 2023 season after a suspension related to allegations of unwanted sexual advances at the previous year’s Super Bowl, Irvin had engaged in legal disputes with the Marriott hotel chain. Reports suggest that Irvin and Marriott have since settled their dispute.

The former NFL star had previously encountered legal challenges, including accusations of sexual assault in 2007 and a 2017 claim of drugging and assault, without facing charges. Despite these incidents, Irvin’s noteworthy football career, which included three Super Bowl victories with the Cowboys in the 1990s, remains part of his legacy. Irvin, who overcame throat cancer in 2019, continues his work in the media industry, contributing to both Fox Sports and NFL Network.
