Tina Knowles’ Divorce Deal with Richard Lawson

Published:

Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, has finalized a divorce settlement with her ex-husband, Richard Lawson, in a high-profile split. According to In Touch, Knowles agreed to a substantial payment of $300,000 to Lawson as part of the settlement terms, with no spousal support awarded to either party.

The agreement also includes a non-disparagement clause, preventing both Knowles and Lawson from making negative remarks about each other, their children, or their children’s spouses. The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, share no children together, and Knowles filed for divorce in July 2023 citing irreconcilable differences.

In her petition to the court, Knowles requested to revoke Richard’s ability to seek spousal support post-divorce and restore her legal name to Celestine Knowles, reverting from Celestine Lawson. Meanwhile, amidst the divorce proceedings, Beyoncé’s music continues to shine as her songs are being covered by prominent Black country artists in Apple Music’s ‘Nashville Sessions’ series.

The positive momentum extends to Beyoncé’s own country project, Cowboy Carter, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart with 407,000 equivalent album units in its first week. The album’s success on the charts has solidified Beyoncé’s status as a music icon with over 100 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, making her just the 17th artist and third woman to achieve this milestone since the chart’s inception in 1958.
