Tory Lanez Transferred to State Prison, Poses for Mugshot Amid 10-Year Sentence

Published:

Grammy-nominated rapper Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has been transferred to state prison following his recent sentencing to 10 years behind bars. A new mugshot of the artist shows him with a stern expression as he begins his prison term.

The rapper was sentenced last month for multiple charges, including negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm. These charges stem from a July 2020 incident in which Lanez allegedly shot fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a verbal altercation escalated outside an SUV in Hollywood.

Tory Lanez has consistently maintained his innocence throughout the legal proceedings, but the jury’s decision resulted in his prison sentence. The rapper’s transfer to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, occurred recently, approximately 145 miles from Los Angeles.

While behind bars, Tory Lanez will have the opportunity to engage in various activities and work assignments. Prison officials offer a range of jobs with wages ranging from $0.08 per hour for unskilled labor to $0.30 per hour for skilled labor. However, Lanez will need to apply for these positions. The rapper’s transition to state prison marks a significant development in his legal journey, with the artist now facing the reality of serving a 10-year sentence.
