In a heartwarming development, Tyler Perry, the renowned actor and filmmaker, is taking action to support a 93-year-old woman in South Carolina who was at risk of losing her family’s property, which dates back to the Civil War era, due to a contentious land dispute. Perry has undertaken the construction of a new 5-bedroom home for Josephine Wright, who currently resides in her house with her grandkids, which is at the center of the bitter legal battle.
Sources with direct knowledge have informed TMZ that Tyler Perry’s construction team is set to break ground on the new home in South Carolina in the upcoming weeks, pending the completion of all necessary permits. This incredible gesture comes after Tyler Perry pledged his support to Josephine in July when he learned of her ongoing legal conflict with the Bailey Point Investment Group. The group aimed to purchase Wright’s land in Hilton Head, but she was resolute in keeping her family’s longstanding property, spanning generations. In response, Bailey Point filed a lawsuit to acquire control of her land.
Wright revealed in an interview with news outlet WSAV-TV how Bailey Point received town approval to develop 29 acres of land behind her home. She had declined an offer to sell her property, and this decision led to alleged harassment from Bailey Point, ultimately resulting in a lawsuit to wrest away her family’s land, which has a significant historical legacy.
One of Josephine’s grandkids initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with her legal fees, and in a September update on the fundraising page, it was noted that a tree had fallen on her home, causing damage to the roof. Now, thanks to Tyler Perry’s compassionate intervention, Josephine Wright is receiving an entirely new residence.
