Wayne Brady Proudly Embraces Pansexuality: “I Can Be Attracted Across the Board”

Published:

Renowned comedian and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” star Wayne Brady has recently opened up about his sexuality, declaring himself as pansexual. In a statement to PEOPLE, the 51-year-old actor explained that being pansexual means he can be attracted to anyone, regardless of their gender identity – whether they identify as gay, straight, bi, transsexual, or non-binary.

“I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there,” he said with a touch of humor, acknowledging that he might not be using the dictionary definition precisely. Brady emphasized that pansexuality, to him, means being open-minded and attracted to individuals for who they are.

Having been married twice before to women, Brady came out to his second ex-wife, dancer Mandie Taketa, and their daughter Maile. Both of them embraced his revelation with acceptance and support. While he had been attracted to men before, he had never dated a man, partly due to the environment he grew up in and the fears he carried.

Currently single, Brady is taking time to work on himself and embrace his pansexual identity fully. He joins the ranks of other stars like Janelle Monae, Mae Whitman, Miley Cyrus, and JoJo Siwa, who have also come out as pansexual, showcasing a growing trend of openness and acceptance in the entertainment industry.

Pansexuality is a term used to describe someone who can form enduring attractions to individuals of any gender identity. It is one of the terms under the bi+ umbrella, as recognized by GLAAD, an organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ rights and awareness.
